Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - * my thoughts ...
This machine totally rocks; I had a visual euphoric experience that has completely changed my opinions on what is capable in the medium. I never knew human eyes could perceive such beauty. This magical box has taken me places I never thought human kind could possibly visit. The vibrant colors and smooth animations lock your body into such an elated state only comparable to the highest clouds of heaven.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Awesome! ...
I am a graduate student who wanted a projector of her own to practice and develop education skills with univerity students, but because I give homeschool english classes to three kids, age 4, 5 and 7, I have also used this one with school children. I have owned it one month.
I had some fears about this projector. You know, mom allways says cheap is allways more expensive later. Not this one. I find this projector just perfect. Extremely lightweight, I can take it to every class with no problem, or from my house to my university in the bus without call the attention. I traveled with this projector to Germany, and had no problem with airport security. A case can be easily found in any electronics store.
I am studying in Spain (Im from USA, but actually studying my grad studies in Spain) and I was offered long time ago a projector as graduation gift. I decided to buy this one from Amazon despite the different electricity in Spain (240v). I had no problem to find a different energy cable for this projector: I just went to a general electronics store, the same were I found the case, and a generic cable fits perfectly to this projector. 327 dollars, the amount that cost this projector, is about 200 euros. The cheaper projector you can find here is 500 euros, and their quality is exactly the same to this one, if you read the specs. The generic cable cost me 4 euros, and the customs fee was about 50 euros, shipping was 20 euros.
I use this projector in very sunny classrooms, and neither any classmate or any of my professors have had problems seeing the screen. Is also very silent, I can give my powerpoint lessons with no problems. In the english classes, the kids love the projector. A projector is an unvaluable education tool for any age and helps a lot when is time to enhance knowledge.
Finally, I have also used this one to see movies in my home. I dont recommend to use this projector with dowloaded movies, because the lower quality of the movie will cause a not so clear image. You can use them, and you will be able to see the movie, but will enjoy the movie as its best if you get the DVD. Its my sincere advise.
I recomend this one with five stars. Unbeteable price, awesome quality, perfect portability. You can't ask more. The only thing you will need is go to a sunglasses store and buy a sunglasses cleaning cloth to clean the black top of projector with any risk of scratching it. I hate seeing my fingermarks there so I clean it every time I mark it.

If you're reading this while searching through page after page of digital projectors, wondering if you should take the plunge - then look no further.
The viewsonicpj503dp is a great place to stop looking. I was taken aback by the value and the quality of this product. I was looking for something multi-functional, as I have young children who watch movies tirelessly, I am a big video game fanatic and my living enviornment doesnt consist of alot of big open space. The flexibility and overall final product this projector delivers at its listed price, might have you shaking your head in disbelief at the price of some of those "top of the line" big screen TVs.
Want a bright picture ? 1500 Lumens. Which means to the layman that even in a room that has a few lights on, the picture this item delivers is very bright. Want a big screen experience ? At 19.4 feet this sucker throws a 150 inch viewable screen. Want the high-def feel ? 720p. Which is what people's hdtv recievers broadcast at for their hd televisions.
In addition to this, it has VGA input (computers and videogames), rca input (the yellow of the three red/white/yellow cords)and s-video input (high def recievers and dvd players). It doesnt even weigh five pounds, it's smaller than your cable box and after rebate it's not even four hundred bucks.
Still not convinced ? Viewsonic packs it with a two-year warranty, and a bulb that will last a whopping 2-3 THOUSAND hours if you run it in economy mode(which looks NO different than reguler mode if your wondering). With the cost of replacement bulbs in other machines reaching into the hundreds, a bulb that costs around sixty bucks and lasts that long is nothing to laugh at.
It doesnt have all the bells and whistles its higher priced brothers do, but who cares ! It's CHEAP. It's FLEXIBLE. It is a great bargain and I encourage you if you've read on this far to take my word for it and make this purchase. Oh, and if you're looking - I have been to about eight of Amazon's competitor sites to see if I could get it a few bucks cheaper and you can't. Amazon sells it twenty five bucks cheaper than everyone else.

Enjoy !

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Good to go ...
I haven't owned a TV in years. My girlfriend is a big movie buff though, so I decided I needed some way to show movies. Between this projector, some cheap computer speakers, and a laptop, I have a home theater.

For my taste, the picture size and clarity is great - I don't project onto a screen, just on off-white wall. A DVD player might give higher quality than my laptop. The image is not perfect, but it's by far the best home movie system I've used and the price is unbeatable. I bought this with the mind that I might potentially be buying something else in a couple of years for Blu-Ray. By that time the decline in price would more than pay for this projector. But now that I have it, I'm in no hurry to upgrade. It's better than I hoped, a great value if your primary use will be watching older movies.

On the down side, the instructions are somewhat useless, but after some experimenting it's possible to figure out what you need to know. I probably wouldn't recommend this for watching regular TV, it also definitely helps to have a dark environment.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * So Incredible except for the Rainbow ...
This projector has been awesome. I was really worried I wouldn't be able to use it as a backyard theater projector. I was wrong, the thing is plenty bright. I am projecting against the back of my house, and the picture looks great for casual use. I live in San Francisco and thought ambient city light would be too much at night but its definitely fine. Although I don't think you could start watching till well after sunset.

Being able to keystone correct is more critical to projectors than i thought, so if you are looking at cheap projectors make sure if you are planning on moving this thing and using it in more than one place you get one with the electronic keystone (some cheap projectors have a dial).

I also use this in the house and the picture is bright with the lights out. House lights or daylight really do wash it out. My projector is about 10 feet from the wall and the picture seems to mostly fill the 80 inch screen I have. (don't quote me on the distances) You can definitely see the pixels in the 800x600 if you are standing next to it, but from the couch it looks great.

OK the most annoying thing about this product and the reason for the 4 instead of 5. DLP. I don't know if its better with different projectors but there is this really weird rainbow effect you see if you move your eyes quickly. Read Wikipedia and you will find out this is a common issue with single Chip DLP projectors. Its not going to ruin the experience, and most of the time you probably wont notice it. Did find that it was a lot worse when I was tired, maybe my lazy eyes? I think this is a great starter projector. Like all of them the lamps are absurdly expensive, but I imagine by the time this lamp dies there will be awesome deals on 1080 projectors and then we can all upgrade.

Tab Benoit's album titles leave little doubt as to where he's from or the music he plays. Brother to the Blues, Fever for the Bayou, Wetlands, and now Power of the Pontchartrain exude the sweaty Louisiana swamp, blues, and R&B inherent in their names. But that only tells part of the story--the rest is in the grooves where Benoit's distinctive, grainy voice and tough Telecaster leads bring soul, grit, and intensity to a sound already infused with an earthy sensibility. There's more of the same on this disc, but that's no criticism. Benoit generally sticks with others' songs here, yet he unearths hidden gems. Julie Miller's "Midnight and Lonesome" is dragged into the murky swamps as a driving ballad with eerie qualities that live up to its name. Miller and husband Buddy are also credited with the righteous-yet-rugged gospel of "Shelter Me." "Somebody's Got to Go," originally by Lonnie Johnson, gets a crisp, frisky makeover, and even Buffalo Springfield's crusty "For What It's Worth" takes a swim in the muddy waters of Benoit's home state, with a little help of some altered, post-Katrina lyrics. The guitarist lets his Cajun influences fly on the bouncy rhythms of "Sac-Au-Lait Fishing," the album's only original, and shifts into pleading Otis Redding mode for the aching blues ballad "I'm Guilty of Lovin' You." The Chicago-by-way-of-the-Delta shuffle of "One Foot in the Bayou" is also an apt description of Benoit's approach. He touches on a variety of Americana styles, yet always keeps part of himself planted firmly in the wetlands of his roots. --Hal Horowitz
