Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Buying Two More ...
Picked one of these up a few months ago and it has worked great. I'm using it for Skype on an HP desktop running Vista and have it plugged into a Belkin USB hub. Sound is clear and microphone works fine. I'm now picking two more up for family.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Excellent Speakerphone and at a great price ...
I was somewhat reluctant to buy this item after reading the reviews; however, I purchased this and was very pleasantly surprised that it works extremely well with the latest Skype 3.6.0.248...I had NONE of the problems/concerns mentioned in other reviews - perhaps the newest Skype software has worked all the bugs/issues out, allowing the USRobotics speakerphone to work flawlessly....What a great product at a very reasonable price..

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * worst microphone ever! ...
This was on sale really cheap so I decided to get it because it looked neat and I figured it couldn't be that bad. As other reviewers have noted, the speaker on it isn't too bad but the microphone is completely unusable and this setup is worse than just using the built-in microphone on my laptop.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * Piece of junk ...
I bought this from Circuit City today and it's going back tomorrow. The speaker quality is fair (not good, but not too bad), however the whole unit vibrates and jumps off the desk when you turn it up loud enough to not be right next to it (i.e., use it as a speakerphone!). The microphone is TERRIBLE and unusable. It is distorted and too quiet. When you turn up the level on the computer, you get an echo. No wonder the MSRP is $50 and everyone (Circuit City, Amazon, ...) is trying to get rid of them for $20.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * Bad quality USB speakerphone ...
This is a USB speakerphone of the worst quality I've ever seen. The sound quality is bad. My partner can hardly hear what I said. It is not the loudness but the echo. I will not recommend this speakerphone to anyone.

Housewares and Kitchen Reviews

San Francisco filmmaker Ernie Fosselius made the most successful short film of all time in the 1978 Hardware Wars, an inspired, mock-trailer for a nonexistent, cheapo rip-off of Star Wars. It worked like this: instead of Chewbacca, Fosselius offers the Cookie Monster. Instead of Darth Vader's breathy, slightly echoed voice emerging somehow behind that black-mask helmet, we get a villain whose every ranting utterance is so muffled even this film's Princess Leia equivalent beseeches him, "What? I don't understand you." And so on. Part of the joke is that George Lucas's revolutionary special effects are supplanted by common kitchen gizmos--mixers, toasters--that serve as spaceships and weapons sources. The updated special edition contains 20 computer-generated "special defects" that don't--the distributor boasts--at all match Fosselius's earlier version. Um... right on? --Tom Keogh

It's Christmas in the tech noir slum of the post-apocalyptic future, and scrap-metal sculptor Stacey Travis gets a present she'll never forget. Scavenger boyfriend Dylan McDermott returns from the wastelands with the insectoid robot head of a killing machine. In no time it whirs to life and builds itself a gizmo-laden body out of handy appliances to continue its single-minded destruction of the human race, one warm body at a time. Director Richard Stanley, something of a scavenger himself, plunders everything from The Terminator, Blade Runner, and The Road Warriorto Short Circuit (the spidery construct resembles a demonic Number 5) for his violent flesh-vs.-metal survival thriller. Shot in sun-blasted orange and sweltering red, it's a triumph of style, set design, and grunge aesthetics over story, driven by a pounding techno score by Simon Boswell and punctuated by splattering gore. --Sean Axmaker
