Item Description:
Universal Electronics' most technologically advanced control device to date gives end users the ability to personalize different screens to access virtually any home entertainment system - all with LCD touch screen access. With unique screens for up to fifteen devices, clutter and complexity drop to zero. Better still, this powerful touch screen remote will have the ability to allow users to access the Internet on the touchscreen directly from their TV using UEI's patented two-way technology.

Amazon.com Item Description:
This advanced and easy-to-use universal remote is equipped with the world's largest infrared code library, so it's compatible with almost every IR remote-controllable device in the world. The Mosaic is also upgradeable, and it can be personalized so that different screens can access and operate your home entertainment system. It also includes many patented and proprietary features, such as learning, macros, 'keymover', 'key magic', and more. For maximal comfort, the Mosaic's highly researched ergonomic design and 160 x 240 touch screen option lets the device fit comfortably in your hand for hours of use.

The Mosaic features a large format touch screen, home theater mode (which combines different devices under one setting), and dynamically generated device screens, which display device keys based on specific device code, ensuring that you will not need to modify keys for each device. You can also set up a combination of up to 15 device types with the remote, with up to 72 keys per device. For extra fast setup, the remote is also programmable by device code, search, or brand; and for extra ease of use, the remote features help screens that include setup and operational instructions. Plus there's a lock option that prevents accidental erasing of codes and personalized settings, though its non-volatile memory helps ensure that the remote won't lose programming even when batteries are removed.

With the Mosaic's proprietary learning capability, users can add functions from another remotes, and label and assign them to special keys. There are also up to 21 user-programmable macro keys with up to 32 independent user-defined keystrokes each. The patent-pending 'Keymover' feature allows function keys to be copied from one device to another in a variety of ways. Keys can also be labeled using letters, numbers, and symbols.

The Mosaic is almost completely universally compatible; working with infrared devices such as your TV, VCR, satellite, cable, DVD, laser disc, amplifier, tuner, CD, minidisc, cassette, photo, audio accessories, and even home automation modules. Plus, its electromagnetic coupling lets you download 'in home' consumer upgrades via telephone or PC speakers.

The Mosaic has a transmission range of approximately 28 feet, and runs on 4 AA batteries (not included).

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Finally - A user friendly electronic device that WORKS! ...
I spent about 30 minutes shopping for a universal remote. I based my purchase on the large easy visible control buttons and the great reviews this product has recieved. As others have said, this thing is awesome! I was instantly impressed with the overall quality and ruggedness of this device. The instruction manual is laid out in plain easy to read and follow procedures. I had mine up and running in 5 minutes for basic operation. You dont even have to know your codes..Touch "setup" "device setup" "by brand" select "TV" scroll to JVC (eg) and your done! Several test keys will appear (power, channel change, etc). If these work touch "ok" and the settings are saved. If they dont, select the next choice and run the test. ALL my devices worked correctly on the first option! Tonight I will program the macros to control all my equipment so I will finally have a single button to watch a DVD, VHS etc. I highly reccomend this item to anyone that has 3+ remotes! Well worth the money AND IT WORKS!!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Great product....easy to learn ...
This remote is great. the instruction manual is very straight forward and tells you all you need to know. The device has most codes for devices already built in but my receiver was not listed. I simply chose the basic screen for a tuner and then let the device learn all of the keys. Very easy to use and definitely has cut down on the clutter on the coffee table.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * A great remote for the money! ...
After putting up with four remotes to control my entertainment center for the last several years I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a universal. Since this is my first, I have nothing to compare it to and really can't say how it stacks up with other models so I'll try and be as informative as possible.

The Mosaic is similar in appearance and feel to a large black and white PDA. The dimensions are; 7.25"H x 3.6"W x 1.5"D with a 2.3" x 4" active (backlit) touch screen operating at 160 x 240 pixels. The factory warranty is 1 year repair or replacement.

Programming the Mosaic is simple and intuitive and you can add devices by brand name, search or device code. Searching is basically by trial and error, you tell it what type of device you have (TV, Stereo, VCR etc...) and it will present you with some test keys to try. If those keys don't work you can proceed to a different set of keys to try and so forth and so on until the device responds. Device codes and upgrades can be obtained through the manufacturers web site.

The infrared code database on this thing is huge! Even if your device isn't listed, the Mosaic has a learning feature that allows you to reprogram existing or create new keys using the components original remote. I personally found the built-in layouts a bit too generic with several features found on the original remotes missing. This was easily rectified by using the learning feature to reprogram some of the keys as well as add new ones.

"Theater mode" was also a bit to generic for my purpose as it presents the most basic screens for each device and none of the macro keys show up in this mode. I found it more useful to just create my own screens which is the reason I chose a touchscreen over a hardkey remote anyway.

Macros are easy to setup, if you've ever recorded a macro using one of the popular word processors out there you'll be right at home. Simply access the new macro function and you'll be presented with all of the devices you've setup on the Mosaic, just start tapping buttons in the order you would perform that function manually. When finished, it will give the option to label the new macro key and ask where to place it.

It took about 5 - 10 minutes from the time the batteries were installed to have a basic setup for all four of my components. It took an additional 2 hours to customize everything the way I really wanted it, including macros. Of course there was quite a bit of "playtime" while I familiarized myself with my new toy.

There are six hard keys that control the backlight, volume up/down, mute and channel up/down. The volume, channel and mute keys control that function on whatever device is currently selected on the Mosaic. A useful feature called volume lock can be setup to lock the volume and mute hard keys to a specific device. This is really nice if all your components are plugged into an A/V receiver like mine is.

For the money, I think the Mosaic is a pretty good deal and it has quickly become a favorite in my household, but I do have a couple complaints: The first being that the screen could be a little brighter with better contrast. There is a contrast control but it tends to go from one extreme to the other, a washed out or totally black screen. Another issue is that you can't edit or rename macros. It would also be nice if they had a screen lock feature so you can clean the screen without having to leave the room or cover up the IR emmiters.

I've only had it a short time so I have no idea how long the alkaline batteries will last but I suspect I'll be looking to buy the optional rechargeable battery pack soon.

A definite buy.

For those who haven't noticed (a group that apparently includes millions of Americans), the sport that we call soccer and the rest of the world calls football is big. Very big. And no one is bigger than Real Madrid, the subject of Real - The Movie. This is the soccer equivalent of the New York Yankees, a rich, perennially successful club that features many of the biggest stars in the world; as of 2005, when the film was released, players included England's David Beckham and Michael Owen, Brazil's Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, Portugal's Luis Figo, and France's Zinedine Zidane (who notoriously head-butted an Italian opponent in the 2006 World Cup final). All of them can be seen in the quasi-documentary sections of the film, as Real prepares for a climactic match against rival Barcelona. Scenes of the players practicing, the coaches strategizing, and the match itself are well done, with crisp cinematography, occasional use of animation and other effects, and an overall kinetic feeling well suited to the sport. But director Borja Manso also wants Real - The Movie to explain to the uninitiated just what it is that makes Real such a big deal all around the world. To that end, he incorporates several personal (and fictional) stories: A Tokyo schoolboy distressed over his girlfriend's shrieking obsession with Beckham. A young Madrid history teacher who doesn't understand Real mania, and his neighbor, an elderly woman who's been unable to return to the stadium since her husband passed away. A Senegalese kid dying to go to soccer school. A teenage girl in New York who suffers a severe leg injury during a match and finds inspiration in Ronaldo's rehabilitation after a similar incident. Pretty standard stuff, by and large, and way too on-the-nose to be very compelling. Combine all of that with some newsreel footage from Real's early days and lots of throbbing, thrilling music, and it all amounts to a big, glossy valentine packaged as wholesome family fare. Nothing wrong with that--unless you're a Boston Red Sox fan. --Sam Graham

The Olsen twins are turning 16, and they're celebrating with this collection of party games and, you guessed it, driving lessons. The good news is that if you can help them get past the obstacles and pass the test, they'll take you out with their new driver's licenses to a variety of fun minigame activities, like rock climbing, riding Jet Skis, surfing, ATV quad racing, and shopping for clothes. Earn points in the party games and spend them to upgrade the car and unlock cool tunes and cooler outfits.

It's not very often that a game aims to be fun and realistic while instilling a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. Mary-Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle does that within the theme of horseback riding. Players compete in such equestrian events as dressage, jumping, and cross-country, and learn the basics of caring for a horse. The game offers a practice mode, which lets riders master the controls and explore a course before entering events, and an adventure mode with large forest and island levels where players can play minigames or just simply explore.
