An accessory handset for Uniden's TRU9 series, TRU8 series, CLX series, Elite series, and the UIP18 series phone systems, the TCX905 offers the same excellent range of functions you appreciate in the base. Once the handset is recognized by the system, you can review features like Call Waiting Caller ID, which includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 10-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor.

You can transfer incoming calls between each handset and speakerphone on the base, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate the handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions. Redial any of the last three called numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent clarity of the 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission.

This handset requires the use of a compatible Uniden T9, ELT or VIP series phone. Most systems in the series are expandable up to a total of four handsets. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

Cons:
Range, they playing around about 100'

When you press the call button to make a call the phone displays "connecting..." sometimes for up to 4 seconds.

Walkie takie mode has to be activated on both phones in order to work, otherwise is just says "Handset out of Range"

You can listen to other rooms but cant talk to them.

we purchased this phone when we finished our basement. we already had the tru-8 series base and needed the extra handset for the new room. this thing linked up in no time and works great. just buy it.

We bought two new handsets for our Uniden answering machine. We already had 3 handsets (an earlier model TRU8555?) but some were not working 100% of the time and the batteries didn't have as much power as when we first got them. The new ones are working great. We use them as a baby monitor as well, and these phone work better than our real baby monitor for this purpose. I recommend this product.

I really do not give much thought to this equipement. Which is a good thing! I gripe for nothing and want for nothing. I've been buying uniden for a long time - since I was happy with my first uniden phone purchase. My next phone will be a uniden.

Rating: - * Intercom limited ...
We purchased the 3 phone/answering machine and then 2 additional phones.
Primary reasons were for the baby room monitor feature, and the other is to communicate with those in the basement.
1. The room monitor feature works well. At night however, the phone we are using to listen in from the master room cannot be sitting in the charger and charging. Rather at night, when the battery in the phone dies, there goes the ability to monitor- usually while we are sleeping. The phone that is in the baby's room, however, can be sitting in the charger. It would be nice to have the listening phone able to charging all the time while it is in the monitoring mode.
2. The intercom system works by sending out a beep - beep page to a specific phone or all the phones in the home. It must be answered before you can speak to the person on the other end. I would like to have been able to bark a generic message to all or one phone that says "come up for dinner please". You cannot send a one way intercom message using this system.

Overall, the phone call quality is excellent. Range is terrific. It has a solid feel. Speakerphone works well. Aside from the 2 issues above, I would highly recommend. We are much happier with these phones than our prior conventional portable phones we used to have.
