Rating: - * Great product. ... Great product. Im IT Tech and use to comunicate to othes employes when we are installing wires for networks. Rating: - * Just OK...not great. ... We purchased these to communicate between our two vehicles during a recent long-distance move. They worked ok, although the 20-mile claim is bogus. You'd be lucky to be able to pick up the other radio at any distance over a mile. Also, if you're planning on using them in an urban area, be prepared to share the airwaves with a lot of other people. Even in smallish cities like Missoula, MT, we had a hard time finding a clear channel. The batteries didn't hold their charge as long as we were hoping, either. By hour four of the drive each day we had to turn the radios off for short periods of time in order to ensure that we had some juice left for the tricky sections later on. Kept on at all times with normal use I would estimate you have about three to five hours of charge in the batteries. Never did figure out how to use the NOAA alert thingy. Overall a mediocre product. It worked well for our trip (except for the battery thing), but wouldn't really want to use them for much else. Rating: - * Works very well! ... We used these at a Scout Camp on Antelope Island and they work very well. Thanks! Rating: - * Great value ... These radios sure beat the old walky-talky toys I had as a child, even much better alternative to hand held CB radios! They are packed with features, and easy to use once you learn the basics of the menu system. However, the instructions are super fine print and difficult to understand. Otherwise they work as expected. I haven't had a chance to test the 20 mile range, but my suspicion is that 20 miles is only "theoretical" and probably will never happen in most situations. They come with a dual base charger, but the radios also have a charger input so you could use them with a cigarette lighter adapter on the road. Overall, these are a really good deal. Rating: - * Good Radios ... I ve used a lot of different brands before including motorola and midland and cheaper version of uniden. These radios are N1 so far. They give nice range about a mile and the half in the city. At The Park you can get few miles pretty easly. A lot of features and the privacy codes which i like in these radios. Also i have a trisquare 300 which i would compare on about the same level. These radios pretty easy to use, nice clear voice and so far i never had any enterferance. For the price you get realy awesome radios. Plus transmitting on FRS channels are FCC FREE !!! That counts too. |
