Rating: - * Ethernet adapter works with OS9 ... The SMC2208USB/ETH EZ solved a problem that I had been unable to solve for some years simply and cleanly. I have an old Mac Performa 6400 with only two PCI slots. One slot has my graphics card in it and I decided to put a combination USB/Firewire card in the other. I wanted Ethernet access also and have been trying to get it through the USB ports. (Yes, I know about the COMMII slot Ethernet card, but I have a cramped desktop and I use my computer extensively as a phone, so I need the modem.) Information on the web stated that the only OS9 compatible USB/Ethernet adapter was the discontinued Jaton XpressNet USB. I tried unsucessfully month after month to find a used XpressNet on Ebay. Finally a kind retailer responded to a help posting on a bulletin board and pointed the SMC2208USB/ETH EZ out to me. The SMC2208USB/ETH EZ, both software and hardware, installed easily and has worked well with my OS9 Mac for a number of months now with no problems. Kudos to SMC Networks!
