This device not only stores and plays MP3 and WMA (Windows Media audio) files and provides FM/AM radio reception, but also
records any radio broadcast--news, sports, or music--so you can play it back at a more convenient time or transfer it to a PC.
Ten memory presets help you find favorite stations quickly and easily, and timer recording lets you set the Radio YourWay to record shows you'll be unable to listen to live. Recording is as simple as pressing a button, and you can even set it up to record daily or weekly programs. On playback, it's easy to fast-forward through commercials or unwanted material and rewind as often as needed.
The unit offers a built-in microphone, letting you record voice (microphone frequency response extends up to 3 kHz, fine for voice recording) or create MP3 files from analog sources like cassette or CD-player outputs using the Radio YourWay's analog line-level input. Its native recording time is about 4.5 hours with the built-in 32 MB memory, but you can use an optional SD or MMC storage card to increase the recording time to nearly 40 hours (up to 288 MB between the card and the internal memory). When connected through the USB port, recorded radio or voice recordings can be transferred and stored on a computer hard drive. MP3 and WMA files from a computer can also be transferred to the Radio YourWay for playback.
A special monitor function makes it possible to listen in the supplied earphones to what's being recorded, and an HD mode lets you use your 32 MB internal storage as hard-drive storage for whatever file types you need to store. The unit runs on two AAA batteries (supplied), and a DC-input jack accommodates an external power source (AC Adapter not included). Non-volatile memory maintains your time and other settings during battery changes.

* Tivo for the radio! A must have for Talk Radio fans! ...
After reading some of the negative reviews about this product, I almost didn't buy it (battery and quality issues etc.). I am very glad that I ignored those reviews and purchased this product! The battery life is fairly short but it does not affect my use of the product since I use the AC adapter in the car which is no hassle at all. With this radio, I am able to record radio shows nightly that I could not otherwise listen to. You can pause, resume, fast forward and rewind your recordings. I use this radio every day and love it!

* Great for talk radio, not so great for music playback ...
I got this because I like to listen to talk radio late at night before I go to sleep and my favorite show is on when I am at work and I can't listen to it. Radio Your Way is fantastic for this but when I tried listening to music on this, the music sounded awful. I don't like the headphones either.

* Get it! ...
If you listen to talk radio, this is just what you need.
Let's review.
If you need the speaker, (who does?) look elsewhere.
You want to listen to music, there are tons of other choices.
The batteries are eaten alive. I record four hours a night, and a fresh set dies before playback is complete. Get yourself four rechargeables.
You can record almost five hours without adding memory.
The ear buds are fine for listening to talk.
Programming is a bit tedious.
One drawback is, when you stop playback, you can't resume from the same spot. It starts at the begining again. So use a bunch of small files, instead of one big one.
Overall it has worked out perfectly for me. I can record some very good stuff that I would never have time to hear at night, and listen on the way to work in the morning!

* Ripped off! Do not order! ...
I ordered this from www.radioyourway.com and emailed a day after receiving to ask a question (they do not have a contact phone number) I was ignored. I then tried again about 10 days later and finally received a response, rude at that. I spoke with Ron Rosberg who advised me I waited too long to return it, that their site clearly states no returns after 7 days, I advised him that I tried to contact them a day after receiving it but never heard back and from that moment on felt they were a shaky business. He finally found the "lost" email and gave me a RMA number to return the item. Now he states that it took to long for him to receive the item back and is both KEEPING my item and NOT refunding my payment and there is nothing I can do about it. I highly suggest to not purchase this item.

* Very useful, but needs bigger speaker ...
As noted by other reviewers, this is a great device for talk radio lovers because it can be programmed to record shows, you can up/down load files to your PC, etc. For most people, the ability to easily & automatically record from radio is the key feature offered by RYW. Abilty to download mp3 files is also important, because many radio shows are archived on the web in a format that can be captured to mp3.
I am reasonably satisfied with RYW, but have some complaints: The speaker is too small and tinny sounding, and is not nearly loud enough, even at full volume, for outdoor use. In general, I think the RYW is too small. It needs to have a bigger speaker, ability to take bigger and therefore longer-lasting batteries, a real built-in antenna, and a built-in power supply. When I listen to talk radio, I typically am doing some project around the house or yard, so I need the device to be rugged, portable, and loud. I'll keep the RYW, but will probably velcro it to a separate 4" battery powered speaker -- not exacly what I want, but better than anything else currently available.
