And thanks to the system's superior noise-canceling Bluetooth headset with extended mouthpiece, you'll always sound professional. The Calisto Pro phone operates on DECT 6.0 frequency, which means that call clarity is not affected by Wi-Fi networks or home appliances, such as the microwave, and you can roam up to 300 feet from the base without suffering any degradation in sound quality.
Streamlined, Ergonomic Design The Plantronics Calisto Pro features a streamlined and elegant look that's designed to reduce desktop clutter. The base doubles as a one-stop docking and charging station, and holds both the Bluetooth headset and the compact handset. It includes a USB port that lets you connect to your PC to sync your Outlook contacts in a matter of minutes (the handset has the capacity to hold up to 200 Outlook contact with three phone numbers each) and connect to either your Yahoo! Voice or Skype VoIP service.
The compact handset docks neatly into the base and includes all the calling features you'd expect in a phone, including caller ID, call waiting, 3-way conferencing, redial, speed dial, and more. It features a large, high-resolution LCD for easy viewing and offers up to eight hours of talk time, or 120 hours of standby time, away from the base. A flip-up waist clip lets you carry the handset with you hands-free as you roam.
The Bluetooth headset also offers up to eight hours of talk time, or 240 hours of standby time, per charge, and can be used with your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone wherever your travels take you. And because the headset's features a superior noise-canceling microphone with an extended mouthpiece, you'll never have to worry about sound quality.

* Problems with keypad ...
I work from home and I'm on it pretty much all day. The one think I can not stand with this is phone is that it does not work with some of my customers phone conferencing systems. I'll the dial the number, when I enter the conference passcode it always comes up as invalid or incomplete. The reason why is the key tone is so incredibly short the conferencing system on the other end does not always pick up the complete pass code. It is extremely frustrating! I have a 20% success rate for it to work.
I checked all the settings on the phone and there is no way to extend the tone so I'm pretty much out of luck. I missed a few important conference calls because of this. Some times I start dialing in 5-10 minutes before hoping I'll get lucky. Now I just jump on my cell or us Skype for the conferencing.
It just seems like such simple functionality they could have built into the phone and they did not.

* Best phone ever! ...
Almost everything about this phone is great. The numbers on the dial pad are a bit small, but still functional. Headset works great, ability to link to other Bluetooth devices a plus.

* Excellent Phone!! ...
I've worked from home for the past 9 years and have gone through multiple phones/headsets. I'm on conference calls from 6 to 10 hours a day so a good phone is key to my productivity (and sanity).
I'd been using the Plantronics CT10 for several years (3 phones in about 7 years). However, since the headset is corded, I'd frequently catch the cord while I was walking around which resulted in the handset hitting the floor. After breaking my latest phone I was forced to look for a new model. Unfortunately, the CT12 (2.4GHz) won't work for me as I have a wireless network in my office.
I then looked to the Calisto Pro. I was initially put off by the high price-tag, and some of the negative reviews, but was intrigued by all the functionality and the Bluetooth headset.
It's a good thing I listened to all the good reviews and bought the phone!!
I've used the phone daily for the past month and am extremely pleased with it. The call quality is very clear, the headset is easy to wear (even for 10 hours), the battery lasts for several hours (and I can still talk while the handset is charging in the base) and... with a Bluetooth headset, there's no headset cord to catch while I walk around. Also, this phone DOES work with digital phone service (a previous review mentioned that it didn't)
If you're on the phone for several hours a day, and want the freedom to walk around and do other tasks while talking, this phone is a great purchase. I'd definitely purchase it again.

* Great concept but performance falls way short ...
The mobility concept is great on this phone. It has a base unit that acts as a charger for the phone and the headset. For quick calls, just pick up the cell phone style phone and talk; it has a small speaker and microphone on the face. You can also switch on the speakerphone which may be OK for certain uses but otherwise sounds like your in a cave. In both of these functions it performs pretty much as expected. Where the main problem lies is with the Bluetooth headset.
I have had 3 replacements and the last time they replaced the entire set from a different production batch, all in hopes of solving my only problem: The headset generates an intermittent pop-corn popping sound that is so irritating to you and the person you're calling that it drives everybody crazy. Plantronics needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. In the mean-time I'm living with it but using a corded 2.5mm headset instead of the Bluetooth. Unfortuately, I feel this is still the "best" unit in this niche. If you can find something better, take it.

* Not for use with iPhone ...
In theory, this is a great device.
The ability to switch seamlessly between phone lines with a signle headset is a great concept. The headset is comfortable and the recharge cradle is easy to use.
The negative bit is in the practice of the theory.
I have an iPhone 3G. When you first pair, everything works as advertised. If you take you phone and go to the store, by the time you get back, the Calisto has stopped connecting with the iPhone. In order to get it to work again, you need to un-pair and pair again, a time consuming operation. I reported this to Plantronics and was told "Sometimes if you don't usually turn off your phone, it can lock the bluetooth link between the phone and headset to where you have to turn phone off and turn headset off and then turn your phone on and then your headset. We try to recommend that you at least turn your phone off once in awhile so that the link doesn't get locked."
Not particularly helpful,
For the other features (speakerphone, wireless headset) it's a unique and functional, albeit somewhat expensive, device. I have not tried Skype integration and I remain very disappointed about the failure to interoperate with the iPhone.
