Rating: - * Bigger than I expected but preforms well ... I have an older receiver and this allows me to get 3 optical devices hooked up to 1 port on the receiver. All you have to do is move the switch to change the input. I have been very pleased. For the price this thing is great. The sound quality is just as good as if the devises were plugged directly into the receiver. As stated it is larger than I expected but that actually helps when making the switch, you just push the button and slide the handle around to the new input. I would defiantly recommend. One note: I only have a DVD player and a cable box plugged in to this, I have seen on some other reviews issues with game consoles, I can not speak to that. Rating: - * Partially works ... I also bought this item based on the multiple positive reviews; however, I've found that it just doesn't work with my MacBook Pro. It works fine with the XBox 360, so I'm assuming it's based upon device signal output strength. As for manufacturing quality, it does feel cheap but then it is cheap so that shouldn't be seen as an unexpected limitation. Rating: - * Works Great! ... I purchased this switch to allow me to use the single optical output from my dvd player to feed both my headphone setup, and my surround sound speakers. I tried several other products, and none worked well. I almost gave up on a good optical splitter, until I found the Nyrius SW100. This product works very well. Basically, it will allow you to either split a single source and send it to up to 3 different receivers (e.g. headphone dac/amp, surround sound receiver, computer) OR feed a single receiver with three different sources (e.g. Playstation 3, DVD player, laptop digital audio out). It's inexpensive, feels well made, and works without a hitch. Also note that this product does not require a power supply. Rating: - * This is a great item!! ... Like most of the other reviews we had the same problems switching... In our case we have 3 inputs that needed to be ran thru our JVC HD 7.1 system... We leave everything on DVD input on the amp and just flip the switch for our other inputs.... This unit is better than the others that are out on the market!! GET IT!! Rating: - * Works, but barely ... Works, and all 6 channels are active with no loss of quality. But you have to constantly wiggle the cables in the splitter to get them to work. Once you hit a sweet spot it works fine. But when you switch optical cables, the sound drops out, and you're back to wiggling the cable to get the sound back. If you're tired of plugging and unplugging cables like I was, I suppose wiggling cables is a step up, but I can't recommend this product full-heartedly. Creating a splitter is a relatively simple concept and I'm surprised so many of these "audio splitters" are just so poorly made. |
