Rating: - * Good bang for the buck ... The first thing I noticed about this keyboard besides it's great looks is it's very solid, feels like you could throw it through a window like a brick if you wanted to. I almost gave this keyboard 4/5 stars because it won't work in flash bios. It worked on other computers, I could access the bios and choose start up method, etc ... If you have a Dell 4700 with Bios Revision A10 this keyboard won't work on start up. Maybe it worked with A7 who knows ... So whenever I have an error on start up I have to go find a different keyboard to proceed. Other than that issue this keyboard is an awesome plug 'n play keyboard with a small profile, footprint, and somewhat useful media keys. Rating: - * Awesome Stepmania Keyboard ... For those of you who don't know, this is the keyboard used by the famed Stepmania gamer, Izzy. The keys are shallow, but the board is solid, so you can really pound on the thing, and the buttons make fantastically audible clicking noises. Since I bought this, timing on my trills and triplets has improved, as well as my overall speed. However, it's unfortunate that there aren't any hot buttons for volume control (there is one for mute). Rating: - * EXCELLENT.... but keys ever so slightly heavier than expected. ... Basically, I think this keyboard is terrific. Standard layout. Everything works without drivers, including the multimedia keys. Feels solid. Looks nice, without looking like a toy. Keys have low travel distance, like a notebook would. I have just 2 complaints. Both are very minor, which is why I still give it 5 stars. Keys are heavier than I'd expect for a "laptop-style" keyboard. Compared to my plain Dell keyboard (the one that shipped with the computer), the keys are just slightly heavier. I tested this semi-objectively by resting a pair of scissors on the H key. On the Dell, it pressed the key immediately. On the Logitech, it pressed the key slowly. Not a big difference. That said, this might be due to the fact the Logitech is brand new and the Dell has been used heavily for 2 years. The F8 key is just above the gap between 9 and 0. On the Dell, F8 is just above the gap between 8 and 9. That's going to take some getting used to. I'll bet nobody else in the world would even notice that, but I do. It messes up my reach. Rating: - * Stellar keyboard ... This is a simple, great keyboard. All of the keys are in their expected places (no funky insert key placement / Page Up is where it belongs, etc). The laptop style keys are quiet and easy to press with a comfortable amount of feedback. The price is right and the feel is right on. Rating: - * Sleek, compact, exellent ... My previous keyboard was a zBoard MERC, which is large, had unnecessary components that I never used, and would bug out which required me to restart my computer. I move my desktop a lot and wanted a small keyboard. I didn't want all the jazz my MERC had (and I wanted my middle column keys back); I just wanted a standard USB keyboard that didn't require any additional drivers. This Logitech product fit my bill perfectly. It's sleek, quiet just like a laptop, thin, and very cool. It took a few days to get used to the spring in the keys; they're a bit more resilient than the keys on my Lenovo T60. But I don't even notice anymore. My only problem has to do with gaming. As with any laptop-styled keyboard, the keys are slightly smaller and closer together. I had to rebind crouch from Ctrl to Shift because my hand would start to cramp up. Took a few hours to get used to, but I'm over it now. Great buy if you want a conservative, standard keyboard and don't want to turn your desktop into a light-up bubblegum machine. |
