Rating: - * Great iPod sound, poor FM sound ... I purchased the IH9 after seeing a good magazine review. When hooked up to an iPod, it sounds spectacular. The sound is on par with any higher-end table radio or bookshelf stereo I've heard, such as the Bose. However, the FM tuner leaves something to be desired. No matter which station I chose, no matter how strong or weak the signal, the audio was distorted. I adjusted the equalizer settings (the equalizer is a nice touch) as well as the 3D simulation and it didn't help. There was always some distortion, even at low volume levels, whether it was music or NPR. It's clearly not a problem with the speakers because of the excellent iPod audio quality. I suspect an inexpensive FM tuner, or just a bad batch of FM tuners that wound up in my IH9. I don't plan to keep the IH9, as much as I like it otherwise, because I listen to FM radio in a clock radio more than I'm likely to listen to my iPod Nano, and distorted sound is distracting. But if you're solely or primarily an iPod listener -- or don't care too much about FM radio quality -- this is a nicely designed and sounding unit. Rating: - * useful, quality and great design ... This station is so great! First, I had some problem to make it work, it was because you need it to be plugged on the power, not on the batteries And then, everything went very easy, the remote has every function possible, and every stuff to congigurate is very intuitive. The ipod can wake you up, for one day, just the week, or just the week-end. The quality is not so bad, not high definition, but this is not the goal of the product, and the sound can actually be very loud, and still good (there is a mini mini woofer) I still haven't play enough with the radio to review it, but it was working good! I definitely recommand it!! Very good quality for a good price! (note:I have an ipod nano 8Go third generation but there are a lot of ipod working with it) Rating: - * Great Gift ... I purchased this for my 16 year old granddaughter and was not sure if she would be pleased with it. She was delighted and said we couldn't have gotten her a better gift. I visited her home a week later and was pleasantly surprised to find she was actually using it! The iHome IH9 Alarm Clock is compact and lives up to it's description. Great price and unbelievable fast delivery. Rating: - * good product, need improve on the clock display ... It is a really good product. I am so happy to throw my old junk alarm clock away. Both Ipod and radio are working good. Only complain is that it is hard to read the time after turn the clock background light off. everytime I have to turn on the clock backgroup light to read the clock. Rating: - * pretty nice alarm ... I had wanted an alarm that would play my ipod for some time but they never had ones that a. let you pick the songs to play and b. you could customize the alarm to certain days. When the IHome finally picked up on those things I decided to pick it up (and the sale price got me, too) This thing looks pretty stylish and has improved my mornings quite a bit from waking up to the annoying ring of my cell phone (which I'd been using for a year before this) In order to play customized songs you have to create a playlist on your ipod called "ihome" and it will randomly play songs from that playlist to wake you. There is no way to set the order, which at first annoyed me but now I've grown used to and appreciate waking up to not necessarily the same song every morning. I'm somewhat annoyed that you only have three options for the alarm days, just weekdays, just weekends, or every day. Why not allow you to pick which days? My cell phone does that. It works out alright for me now but I used to work odd days and being able to set the alarm for only specific days would be awesome. You can program the length of the snooze which is really nice. The buttons feel really cheap, especially the turn wheels you use to rotate through the menu options and adjust the volume. It's supposed to mimic your ipod controls but instead of whatever they use on ipods where it senses your finger this is actually a plastic disc that rotates and just feels really really flimsy. Speakers are horrible when played at louder volumes but sound fine at lower volumes which is all I really wanted this for. Also it comes with a remote that lets you control your ipod which would be great except there is no way you can see the display from anywhere that would make the remote practical so it's kinda useless in that sense unless you just want to skip songs or go back in your playlist. Concerning the display, there are several levels of brightness you can set it to. The brightest one is way too bright to sleep to, but when you get it to a comfortable nighttime level you can't really see it very well during the day. In the picture the numbers are bright with the background dark but on my unit it's reversed and there is no option in the instructions to switch that, nor any obvious way that I've found. It's rather annoying if they switched this on certain models without a way to change it as I much would have preferred it the other way. So bottom line, if you need a nice alarm clock that lets you wake up to your ipod this is a pretty good option. Don't expect it to replace your stereo in terms of sound quality, however. |
