Editorial Review:Item Description:Satellite Radio is becoming increasingly popular. For one thing, you can listen to the same radio station from Maine to Califirnia - with no static or interference. For another, XM offers over 130 channels of mostly commercial-free programming. XM was first introduced to drivers, then made its way to homes, with MyFi you can take it with you everywhere, anywhere (in the USA), and anytime.
The Delphi XM MyFi comes with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM at home, at work, in any vehicle or on the go. As the most advanced satellite radio available, the MyFi offers everything you need to enjoy XM anywhere: Hand-held MYFi receiver; Rechargeable, integrated battery; Complete home accessory kit; Complete vehicle accessory kit; First-ever built-in XM antenna; Headphones; Remote control; Belt clip/stand; Carrying case. XM Radio service requires a monthly subscription fee. Without it, this radio is inoperative.
Amazon.com Review:The biggest boost yet for satellite radio has to be Delphi's radiant MyFi XM2GO portable satellite radio receiver and digital music player. The MyFi can record and play back up to 5 hours of XM's digital programming whenever and wherever you choose. It requires a subscription to XM satellite radio ($12.95/month), but just

Compact and easy, to use the MyFi offers 150 XM satellite channels. |
about everything else you could want for home, outdoor, or car listening comes in the box. XM's 150 channels include 67 commercial-free music channels as well as premier news, sports, talk, traffic, and weather listings.
The MyFi comes with a densely packed carton of accessories, including everything from headphones and antennas to a remote control, belt clips, and separate docking apparatus for integrating the receiver with your home and car stereos.
Smaller than a PDA, the receiver exudes greatness even before you hear it: it's just heavy enough to seem solidly built yet light enough to merit the term 'portable.' The receiver even comes with world-class manuals, from its tips sheet to the longer quick-start guide to the 42-page user's manual (separate English and Spanish editions of each are provided).
An illuminated six-line LCD is your gateway to browsing XM's programming. You can browse by station, by category, or (our favorite) by currently playing artist. Thirty channel presets simplify access to your favorites, and a handy memo button stores artist and song data for up to 20 performances you'd like to look into later (or find again on XM).
Any satellite radio system requires a fairly heavy-duty antenna. Accordingly, the MyFi comes with four: one for the home (place it in a south-facing window), one for the car (mount it on the roof or trunk), a clip-on antenna for when you're hoofing it, and a built-in antenna. Our home reception was perfect--we never experienced a single drop out. Car reception was spottier, though still excellent. You just have to get used to the fact that where analog radio gets noisier in areas with poor reception, satellite radio drops out altogether; it's either all there, crystal clear, or all absent. And that's where My XM, MyFi's recording feature, comes in handy.

The MyFi mounts easily in most vehicles. |
My XM lets you record XM programming to MyFi's onboard memory--perfect for time shifting your listening (as with a news program or a scheduled performance on XM Live) or for tuning in when you'll be someplace lacking XM reception (in a canyon, on a subway, in a windowless cubicle, etc.). You can schedule a recording or start and stop recording at any time you wish, and new recordings pick up where you last stopped. But you can't erase anything unless you clear the memory--which means you can't whittle away songs you don't like to retain your favorites. It's also important to remember that when you've filled the unit's memory (128 MB, or 5+ hours of full bitrate XM radio), it'll record over earlier material, starting from the top. During playback, however, My XM lets you skip easily from track to track and even pick from a list of all tracks.
You can configure the MyFi's LCD to scroll stock and sports-score tickers, a great way to keep an eye on important stats. The receiver also features a built-in sleep timer (15 minutes to 1 hour) and an alarm clock (wake to a beep or to XM programming).
What's in the Box For car use, you have a choice of mounting options for the vehicle cradle: flush mount, vent mount, or swivel mount. The cradle houses a power jack for a DC vehicle power adapter (included), an antenna input, and an audio output for use with the provided cassette-shell audio adapter. You can use the cassette adapter or the MyFi's built-in wireless FM transmitter, which turns any FM radio into an XM radio. (Audio quality is better using the supplied cassette audio adapter, however. You may also purchase a wired FM adapter, though XM asserts that the cassette adapter sounds better than that, too.)

The Delphi XM MyFi comes complete with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM anywhere. |
Positioning the car antenna can be inelegant, despite its heavy-duty magnet. You can have it professionally installed or live with an exposed antenna cord, though XM recommends using 'existing holes, body grommets, and other wiring channels' rather than closing a door over the cord on a daily basis. The receiver's battery pack proved good for about five hours between charges. The included earbud headphones are neither comfortable nor particularly well made; a nicer set would represent XM's strong sound quality.

Rating: - * Some bugs you should know about ...
I bought my Delphi XM2go in 2006. I am still using it and still loving it!! But here is what you should know:
After six months of use, it started to freeze up and stop working. It turns out that you have to change the battery a few times a year. Also, it turns out that the "home set" dock is a sensitive little thing. The little pins where you plug in your device, so it can recharge etc..well, the little pins go bad. Seriously bad.
I ordered, like, 4 different home sets just to get new docks. They work fine for awhile...and then they don't. Really, my actual XM2go radio unit always works absolutely fine and has not needed servicing or replacement. My problems were with the battery and the dock, that's all. Finally I decided to just leave it in the dock and use it like a non-mobile, non-"2-go" device, and it seems much happier.
LOL, when I talked to their service dept, they said I shouldn't have bought this unit at all, that I should buy the Inno instead!
Rating: - * XM GREAT! DELPHI TWO THUMBS DOWN ...
Dealing with Delphi has been a nightmare. XM is great. Purchased My-Fy and connection was simple. But before the first year was up the devise froze up and a signal would not be received. Reactivation was not possible because channel 1 or 2 would not receive. Sent the devise back to Delphi...which is quite a procedural mess. If you get this unit make sure you keep the box and ALL papers. After sending in the unit for replacement someone else's battered up used devise was returned. The plug for earphones was loose and did not allow connection without cutting in an out. After having the replacement unit for three months. . .the same problem as the first devise started to occur. . .i came to Amazon and read some of the reviews and found that many people were having the same problem with freeze up. . .also have a brother and sister that both had the same issue with freeze up with the MyFy before one year was up. When i tried to get the replacement to the replacement met up once again really nasty staff at MyFy and once again they wanted all the paperwork that had already been sent to them the first go around. . .needless to say i did not have all the sales receipts required for the obvious reason...they had it. After hearing the Delphi employee say," we MUST have this before we can replace the unit", said thank-you but no thank you. XM GREAT. . DELPHI..RUN. . . RUN. . . RUN. .
Rating: - * Not what I expected ...
When I got the XM2GO for Xmas in 2006 I was really wanting it to be what they advertised. Not even close unless you want a car unit. But first, the nightmare of activation. I had two gift certificates for service but the on line activation would accept only one. Plus, nowhere does it advertise the expensive activation fee. So I called the toll free number. The signal was so bad we could not communicate. On the third try I got a person I could talk to but their accent and command of English was so poor we could not understand each other. Two calls later I finally got someone with enough language skills I was able to activate. Then the disappointment began. You can not walk or bicycle with it. Fine. I will use it at work since the primary reason I wanted it was to follow baseball all season. Unfortunately I could not get a signal at work. So, I used it at home with some success although it would lose the signal frequently even though it was not being moved.
Then I got the first bill. Not only was it impossible to figure out what I was paying for, they only credited one of my gift cards. Several calls later I thought the issue was resolved until the next bill which, again, had not credited me for the total of the gift cards. I gave up on phone calls and wrote to XM about the problem. No replies, just another bill for even more than the service should have been for only two months. I wrote again telling them to just cancel the "service". Again, no response except more bills. After a few months of this I sent an expensive certified letter detailing my dissatisfaction and again telling them to cancel the subscription. You guessed it. More bills. I have a thick file on this issue. I sent another certified letter to three addresses and finally, after a few more bills, they quit coming. I really do not know if this is a good unit or not, but I can tell you that if you have any problems XM does not care and offered me absolutely no customer service. Buyer beware.
Rating: - * Poor quality, can't see screen in bright envirnment. ...
I have had this for a little over a year and now the unit is turning on and off for some reason. Called Delphi not much help. Put in a new battery and reset all the setting to default and it is still doing it. Also you can not read the screen in the car on a bright day. I would never recommend this product.
Rating: - * Great until it breaks down ...
Like a couple other reviews, I loved mine until it broke. Returned it under warranty and the second one lasted also only about 13 months and dark screen after a few minutes of play time (with a new battery). I'll try an Pioneer Airwave seems that it is compatible with the Lancing docking station which I already own and has great sound. Save your money.
