Rating: - * Stopped working after 1 month ... This product worked well for a month and then died. My ExpressCard port works fine, but the Delkin product does not work. Customer service and troubleshooting is non-existent. I was unable to get in touch with Delkin or find documentation or troubleshooting tips. I used it on a MacBook Pro with a 4GB SDHC card. Rating: - * Not up to the task ... I purchased this to work with my MacBook Pro and SDHC cards. I bought a new Panasonic HDC-SD9 which stores all of it's video on SDHC cards. I picked up an 8GB card in the store when I bought it but also ordered 2 16GB cards from Amazon. My older Expresscard reader would not read SDHC so I order the Delkin since it was supposed to. I also ordered a Lexar USB reader for the same purpose to go with my Mac Mini. The Delkin came first so I used it with the 8GB class 4 card and it worked fine. When the 16GB class 6 cards came today the reader could not read them correctly. I assumed something was wrong with the cards and tried to format them. But they worked fine in my camera. Finally I loaded the cards into the Lexar and they worked and mounted just fine. I am not sure if it is the larger capacity or the higher speed but the Delkin is unable to work with all SDHC cards. I am returning mine today and looking for another one. **Update: I ended up purchasing the Sonnet Technologies 21 in 1 reader and it worked like as expected. 21IN1 Multimedia Reader/writer Expresscard 34SLOT Mac/pc Sd/mmc/xd Rating: - * Broke my laptop ... I've used a Delkin ExpressCard for compact flash for at least 6 months and loved it, so there was no question about which card I'd get for SD media. Unfortunately this card would not stay in my MacBook Pro. After trying to get it to stay in the computer, I had to use a USB card reader instead. When I tried the original ExpressCard for compact flash, it would no longer stay in the computer either. So trying to use this new card destroyed my ability to use the ExpressCard slot. I noticed that the gold contacts on the SD 6 in one card were very tiny compared to the card for compact flash media. According to the Apple forums, this slot is evidently a weak point. I just wish I had never bought this card because I could at least still be using the other one. Rating: - * It just works! ... It just works. A great product that you can leave in the express slot of your Mac until you need it. There's no software to install. You just slide it in the slot and you're off. Can't all products be made like this? Rating: - * A Lifesaver from Delkin ... After reviewing a few Express 34 card readers, I narrowed the list of good ones to the Sonnet and this Delkin ExpressCard. I went for the Delkin as was much easier to order than the Sonnet which seemed hard to locate at places other than the Sonnet Store. The Delkin inserts easily into my MacBook Pro, fitting virtually flush with the laptop's side. It also can be removed easily, but fortunately, this requires a more substantial push on the edge of the card, so it is not accidentally ejected when removing a mounted SD (or other) card. I have not tried every kind of media as yet, but so far have had no problems with various types of SD cards (High Performance, HC) which quickly mount on the desktop. Data transfer speed is also quite fast, making large file transfers a snap. |
