Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * good tv ...
ive had this tv now for 3 years, i bought it cuz i turned the garage into a bedroom/livingroom/hometheatre room. i looked at best buy and circiut city and online for good tvs, not great cuz greatness is expensive. it was $300 at the time and it was one of the cheapets 27" tvs in best buy, and i realy wanted a flat screen because of how wide the room is. the picture was realy good and the color is amazing. we were ready to spend $500 or so on a tv between 27" flat screen and 32" normal. this was the best one in the store and i have no complaints or second thoughts. my dad liked it so much he bought one to go in his living room to replace a rca tv that was dying, the screen was bouncing badly. dont have a coment about the sound i have a yamaha/jbl hometheatre system that rocks and dont listen to the tv speakers. one tip is to use s-video cables much better on color overall picture and black level. the only nock on the tv for me is the black level, some black looks smokey but most people dont notice it. it might be better on component inputs but have never used then. last year i wanted a bigger tv so i got a 60" rear projection tv not hd sadly, but know i use my daewoo as a second tv off to the side to watch multiple football or basketball games. also good for playing video games on one and watching sportcenter or whatever on the other. im amazed when i have both tvs on the same channel using the same cable type, how much better the daewoo is. some of my non-technical friends have asked me if its hd i laugh at them but it does look amazing. it gets a four cuz it awesome for what it is but its no samsung DLP or panasonic LCD. it is a 6 star for its price and a 5 for what it is.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Great Picture. Great Price. ...
Our Samsung 27" died last year two days before our super bowl party. Needless to say we didn't have a whole lot of time to research TVs but we spent the weekend going from BestBuy to Circuit City to Frys and then back to each again. At first we were very dissappointed because all the TVs in our price range were awful looking. Very grainy and washed out colors and text was fuzzy. The Sony(s) were nicest but in the $350+ range. We also liked the Panasonic alot but it was also a little expensive. We were trying to decide on the Panasonic when we went to BB one more time (but a different store). That is when we saw the Daewoo right next to the Panasonic. GREAT for us since the Daewoo looked better and the price was much better. We bought it and have loved it since. We just moved to a bigger house we have a large built in cabinet to fill and can get a bigger TV so we started looking at 34" widescreen and 36" 4:3 HDTVs. We got our new HDTV in and set it up next to our Daewoo and I must say that the color on our Daewoo was just as good as our 36" HDTV Sony. (not the detail though obviously).
If you are looking for a good TV in the 27" range (regardless of price) you should consider looking at this Daewoo. The sound is also pretty good but I'm not an audiophile. I also don't have a problem with the remote. It's not universal so I just use the remote that came with my DVD player.
But, while I love Amazon.com for many many products, I wouldn't buy a large heavy TV from them just because of convenience if there is a problem. (imo).
Great TV. Great Picture. Great Price. I'd buy a Daewoo again.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * DON'T BUY THIS OR ANY TV FROM AMAZON ...
I purchased this TV several months ago from Amazon (I just couldn't deal with the dunderheads at Best Buy!). It took about ten days to arrive. Once set up it proved to be defective in the picture tube causing the right half of the screen to be bathed in alternating green and purple. I immediately contacted Amazon to say that the TV was defective and I wanted to return it. After 8 days and five emails from me they finally replied with the standard answer that they do not accept returns of TVs 27 inches or larger and that this was stated in the product description. I replied that I assumed that that meant that you couldn't just change your mind about a TV but I assumed they would replace a defective one. Again, it took many days and emails. I finally found a non-Amazon website that lists actual phone numbers for Amazon Customer Service. The first guy I spoke to told me that they couldn't accept returns on TVs 27" or larger because they were considered "hazardous materials" and could not endure being shipped twice. After I finished laughing hysterically at this explanation, I suggested I just chuck the thing out and they could give me a refund. Naturally this did not sit well with him. He then told me that they could not accept returns because this Daewoo and many other TVs they sell come with an "in-home" service contract from the manufacturer and that all I had to do was call Daewoo and they would send a technician to my house to fix it. I was told that the service telephone numbers were listed in the product description. The product description listed only a link to a Daewoo website that was completely in Korean and had no telephone number displayed. Further internet sleuthing got me a Daewoo service number. The man on the line at Daewoo could not believe that Amazon had the gall to sell their TV promising an in-house service contract when nothing of the sort exists with Daewoo. After this call I contacted Amazon perhaps a half dozen more times and finally got a supervisor who said that they would make an exception and accept the return of the TV. After several more weeks and more emails I have finally received confirmation that they have credited my credit card. The moral of this story is that one should never buy a large piece of electronic equipment from Amazon because they have ludicrous return restrictions, they sell products with promises that they can't keep, and their customer service is a nightmare. They still list the Daewoo TV with the promise of an in-home service contract. BEWARE!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * A fine set indeed. ...
This is a really great set to own, I puchased this 27" to replace my old 20" Daewoo to get a bigger picture. For the price this set works as well as any of the other 27" I've also seen. My only complaint would have to be the basic remote thats included, so inaddition to this set I also had to purchase a universal remote. The picture quality is great as well as the sound. So if you looking to save a litte money on a TV, but still get quality, I highly recommend this set.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - * Good for a couple days ...
I bought this tv at a store called AmazingSavings (fomally OddJobs) it was priced for $199.99. i thought it was a great price for a flat screen, so I went price shopping, most 27" flat screens where in the $220-$500 mark. So i went back to the store and bought it. The picture quality was great, for the first couple days. and on channels with a marquee (Fox News, CNN) the letters that are scrolling seem to get thin when they reach the middle and then real fat when it gets to the end. and now after 1 day it would start to "blink" going off and on real fast. and now it's REALLY blurry, i don't know if it's defective, but if if is defective the picture quality when it was working right, was really good!

With the help of producer/songwriters William Orbit, Mark Ronson, Jerry Meehan, Joey Negro and Soul Mekanik (plus guests as diverse as The Pet Shop Boys and Lily Allen), Robbie Williams has achieved a most radical transformation. Gone is the slick, pop-rogue of yesteryear: in his place is a new Robbie that raps, embraces club beats and (mostly) favours personal indulgence over cheesy, universal pop. Recent single "Rudebox", all electronic riddims and slack-rap vocal delivery, was just the start of this transition. The rest of Rudebox completes the remarkable overhaul with several eclectic covers - from Manu Chau's "Bongo Bong" and Lewis Taylor's underground classic "Lovelight," to subversive takes on The Human League ("Louise"), My Robot Friend ("We're The Pet Shop Boys") and Stephen Duffy ("Kiss Me") – and tracks such as "Keep On", "Good Doctor" and "Dickhead", which confirm his quite bewildering quest to becoming a comedic, Staffs-accented version of The Streets.

Slightly more serious are his attempts at what he describes as 'wonky pop'. Songs like "Viva Life On Mars", his odd ode to Madonna ("She's Madonna"), the dark "The Actor" and catchy club-hit-in-waiting "Never Touch That Switch" all feature innovative production and interesting arrangements. Toward the end, we get "The 80s" and "The 90s", two more amusing "rap"-tracks that cover the singer's adolescence and his Take That years respectively; these underline the nostalgic, end-of-an-era feel of the LP. Audaciously eclectic and admirably upfront, Rudebox is overtly a form of personal catharsis. Not all the experiments work, but they're better than you might think, and now they're off his chest it'll be interesting to see where the new Robbie Williams heads to next.--Paul Sullivan

Greatest Hits chronicles the remarkable journey of Mr Robert Williams, from being the "fat dancer from Take That" (c. Noel Gallagher) to the multi-million pound jewel in EMI’s crown. Assembled in chronological order, all the hits are here, except for his initial solo outing "Freedom", and it’s interesting to see how his sound evolves from wannabe Britpop buffoon on the sub-Oasis pubrock of "Old Before I Die" to the subtle captivating melodies of "Feel" and "Come Undone". There are so many great tracks that it’s impossible to list them all, but highlights have to be the barnstorming "Let Me Entertain You", the bouncy, floor-filling "Rock DJ" and the song that madeth the man, "Angels". The two latest additions to his canon--"Radio" and "Misunderstood" clearly have one eye on the past, the other on the future – with the latter an instant classic Robbie ballad from the Bridget Jones 2 soundtrack and the former a foray into the world of electro pop that sounds like a warped Human League track from the 1980s. This has to be Robbie’s forte, his ability to make great pop records that always sound fresh and full of energy. Every home should have a copy of this album, and chances are, by the end of 2004, most of them will. -- Melanie Wilkin
