Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - * Coby MP-C789 ...
Multiplayer is great. One fatal flaw is that Video conversion software DOES NOT work. Main reason for purchase was the large 2.5 color LCD. Can not receive benefit of feature if video cannot be played.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - * Love,love it! ...
Thanks to the reviews I bought one of these little wonders. Truly for the price I got it at, its a winner.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - * Product needs more improvements ...
I bought this player with the intention of downloading and watching movies in my free time. I wouldn't recommend this product for video reproduction because of the following reasons:

1. When the movie is playing you can notice a small delay every 3 or 4 seconds and the images don't move smoothly. There was not improvement after replacing the standard SD with the Ultra SD card.

2. Files (movies) larger than 300 mb are not loaded from the flash card. You have to reset the unit since it never starts playing the video.

3. The converter that comes with the CD has limitations regarding the frame rate and the picture size(width, length). Also not all the files that were converted work necessarily in the player.

4. Any movie that carries the new HDTV picture size is rejected or not processed by the software.

5. Movies that were converted by Blaze Video Magic (Coby software) work very fine in other players like Zen Vision.

The other player functions like MP3 music, FM radio, voice recording, browser and document reading seem to be working within their own limitations. I was surprised after watching a 90 minutes movie that the battery indicator still did not show any discharge.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * Compromise between funtionality and useability ...
This little machine does everything -- Flash video, audio, video, photo, text reader, FM radio, recording with onboard mic, FM, or audio/video in, built in Tetris-like game, it'll copy files off your usb flash drive without a computer, it's got a full-size SD card slot, and a li-poly battery, charges off the usb port, onboard speaker, etc.

This all comes at a price though -- the user interface is, well, bad. Want to turn off the backlight when playing music? Press the M button, toggle down to "save power", push toggle in. You can't read the screen with the backlight off, and if you do anything other than change volume or skip, it comes back on, then you have to go through all that to turn it back off. Everything works like that -- the speaker is turned on and off in the setup function, and it has no relation to whether the headphones are plugged in. So you can't pull out the headphones and let your friends hear what you're listening to without leaving the music player, going to setup, turning on the speaker, going back to music, etc. You get the idea. EVERYTHING works like that! It'll do dang near anything if you've got the patience to go through all the steps.

I bought it because it was the cheapest mp3 player that'll display a .txt file so I can read e-books at lunch. The e-book reader is really simple. It wraps the l
ine after 23 characters
-- period. So most li
nes end with a split wo
rd, like this. Nine li
nes per page, if there's a bookmark function I can't find it. You have to press the M button to see what page number you're on, memorize it, then select that page again when you come back. Also the "Dictionary Function" is a myth -- it's nowhere to be found, and there's no firmware update on Coby's site. At least the letters are big and easy to read.

But it was only a hundred and twenty clams in Jan. '07 and it does a little bit of everything. (Oh, and it's really got the 1Gb, not 512Mb.)

For those who haven't noticed (a group that apparently includes millions of Americans), the sport that we call soccer and the rest of the world calls football is big. Very big. And no one is bigger than Real Madrid, the subject of Real - The Movie. This is the soccer equivalent of the New York Yankees, a rich, perennially successful club that features many of the biggest stars in the world; as of 2005, when the film was released, players included England's David Beckham and Michael Owen, Brazil's Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, Portugal's Luis Figo, and France's Zinedine Zidane (who notoriously head-butted an Italian opponent in the 2006 World Cup final). All of them can be seen in the quasi-documentary sections of the film, as Real prepares for a climactic match against rival Barcelona. Scenes of the players practicing, the coaches strategizing, and the match itself are well done, with crisp cinematography, occasional use of animation and other effects, and an overall kinetic feeling well suited to the sport. But director Borja Manso also wants Real - The Movie to explain to the uninitiated just what it is that makes Real such a big deal all around the world. To that end, he incorporates several personal (and fictional) stories: A Tokyo schoolboy distressed over his girlfriend's shrieking obsession with Beckham. A young Madrid history teacher who doesn't understand Real mania, and his neighbor, an elderly woman who's been unable to return to the stadium since her husband passed away. A Senegalese kid dying to go to soccer school. A teenage girl in New York who suffers a severe leg injury during a match and finds inspiration in Ronaldo's rehabilitation after a similar incident. Pretty standard stuff, by and large, and way too on-the-nose to be very compelling. Combine all of that with some newsreel footage from Real's early days and lots of throbbing, thrilling music, and it all amounts to a big, glossy valentine packaged as wholesome family fare. Nothing wrong with that--unless you're a Boston Red Sox fan. --Sam Graham

The Olsen twins are turning 16, and they're celebrating with this collection of party games and, you guessed it, driving lessons. The good news is that if you can help them get past the obstacles and pass the test, they'll take you out with their new driver's licenses to a variety of fun minigame activities, like rock climbing, riding Jet Skis, surfing, ATV quad racing, and shopping for clothes. Earn points in the party games and spend them to upgrade the car and unlock cool tunes and cooler outfits.

It's not very often that a game aims to be fun and realistic while instilling a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. Mary-Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle does that within the theme of horseback riding. Players compete in such equestrian events as dressage, jumping, and cross-country, and learn the basics of caring for a horse. The game offers a practice mode, which lets riders master the controls and explore a course before entering events, and an adventure mode with large forest and island levels where players can play minigames or just simply explore.
