Utilizing the 5.8 GHz frequency and digital signal transmission, the E5600 cordless telephone creates a consistently clear connection with exceptional range and high security levels. The system is expandable to a total of eight handsets; this set includes one.

The LCD screen of the handset is a full-color display that allows you to select one of 31 images as wallpaper or visual ring tone; the screen on the base is a traditional LCD that displays text information. Both screens provide access to a 50-entry phone book; with subscription to local Call Waiting Caller ID service, the screen will also display the name and number of the person calling. Through the display and dial feature, you can quickly return a call, or use the redial button to access one of the last five numbers you've called. Both the displays and the keypads are backlit for easy legibility under any lighting conditions.

A digital answering system provides 15 minutes of messaging space, along with options like skip, save, remote message retrieval; you can also record a memo for other family members. The system is wall mountable and includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

Rating: - * Highly Recommended! ... Bought this several years ago when my old one died. I thoroughly enjoy the features it has, more so than the newer ones. It's a breeze to get an extra hand set, or more, and registers an expandable handset within seconds. Rating: - * At&t phone ... I owned this phone barely over a year and the problems started. The batteries are shot. They can't hold a charge, my previous phone was a vtech and the batteries lasted over 3 years before I noticed diminished use. The speaker button no longer works on one handset (the call is disconnected when the button is utilized.) One handset won't work at all. So I have $260 investment that is practically useless. Very dissappointed, I should have bought a cheaper brand. The intercom functionality is horrible, you have to scroll through the menu to access it. Each handset has it's own address book (my old vtech had a central address book.) Think twice before buying this expensive unit. Rating: - * Looking for a new phone... ... We have had this phone for quite a while now. Unfortunately we have had to replace the handsets several times. The handsets are always searching for the base and stop working in the middle of calls. The battery life never lasts either. We love the color displays and the features this phone has but for us it has not been worth the hassle of replacing the handsets as much as we have had to. We are now searching for a new phone to replace this one. Rating: - * SO happy! ... I am thrilled with this phone. I had an AT&T set and when they started to die my DH bought a rather cheap VTECH set at Sam's. It was pitiful. No volume control on the ringer, no speaker phone, etc. I missed my old AT&T set so much, I didn't care that the "9" didn't work anymore. This phone fits the bill, and more. I love the ringers, I love the size, I love the speakerphone on the phone and base, I love the caller ID and the ability to redial various numbers. The color screen is fun.
